Attached files Using Edisto
To Send Attached file:

Create a word processed file and save on a Macintosh formatted disk
(make sure filename is just letters, numbers or period, no spaces).

Use Fetch to do the following steps:

Open Fetch and enter the following in the New Connection
window:

Host: Edisto.cofc.edu
-
User ID: your login ID
-
Password: your password
-
Directory: delete anything here
-
Click OK.

Click on Put.
-
Select your file from the window (use Desktop to switch disks).

Fetch will add .bin to your filename, leave it there.
Click OK.

In the Put File window, make sure the Format is
Macbinary II and make sure the file name has no spaces or other
strange characters. Click OK.

Get into Pine from your Edisto account.

Choose Compose and address the mail.

Choose Ctrl-J to attach a file to your mail.
-
Type Ctrl-T to get a list of files in your Edisto account.

Use arrow keys to select the file and press Return.

In the message, state what kind of file (ie. ClarisWorks word processing),
size of file (10k) (can be found on your disk directory) and description
(ie. This is a paper I plan to present).
To Receive Attached file:

Read your mail that has the attached file.
-
Choose V ViewAttch to see attached file (you will
be unable to because it will not recognize the format).

Choose S Save to save the file to your Edisto
directory.

You will be asked if you want the same name for the file. If you decide
to rename the file-make sure it still ends with
.bin.

Open Fetch and enter the following in the New Connection
window:

Host: Edisto.cofc.edu
-
User ID: your login ID
-
Password: your password
-
Directory: delete anything here
-
Click OK.

Select the file you want from the directory.
-
Click on Get.
-
Tell the computer what disk the file is to go on.
